On March 20th, 2016, the “Titanium Dioxide Acid Residue Recovery and Comprehensive Utilization Technology” undertaken by Hubei Shengrong Environmental Protection Co., Ltd. passed the titanium dioxide industrial technology innovation strategic alliance in Wuhan and the titanium dioxide division of the National Chemical Industry Productivity Promotion Center in Wuhan. Experts of the organization reviewed and used this technology to recycle and comprehensively utilize the acid-resolved slag. The experts agreed that the technology level reached the domestic leading level. Zhang Xiaonian, chief technical officer of Shengrong Company, introduced that the technology passed a conditional test on a number of process parameters, and the final recovery of titanium concentrate TiO2 content in acid slag slag samples reached 43% to 48%, and soluble and rutile titanium dioxide was removed. The recovery rate is over 60% and the technical indicators are good.
The project technology has been industrially applied in two titanium dioxide enterprises of Qianjiang Fangyuan Titanium White Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu Zhenti Chemical Co., Ltd. since October 2015. The results of the production and operation in the past six months show that the project produces recycled titanium The TiO2 content of the ore is over 45%, and the content of rutile, Fe2O3, SiO2, etc. is the same as the raw material for production. It can be used as the raw material for acid hydrolysis. The recovery rate of titanium dioxide is close to or reaches the test index, and has no effect on the production process.
Take the production capacity of Jiangsu Titanium Chemical Co., Ltd. with a production of titanium dioxide of 150 tons per day as an example, the output of acid residue tailings is about 80 to 90 tons per day. The main components of the acidolysis tailings are ilmenite, zircon, gangue, ferrous sulfate, sediment, free sulfuric acid and partially soluble titanium dioxide that are not involved in the reaction. The content of titanium dioxide in the tailings is about 25%, and the unreacted titanium ore in the acidolysis tailings is recovered, and resources can be reused.
Zhang Xiaonian said that the technology uses permanent magnetic physical separation, compared with other acid leaching and flotation technologies, it has the advantages of simple and reasonable process flow, simple operation and low operating cost. According to the current production estimates of two titanium dioxide enterprises, 1300 tons and 2,400 tons of titanium concentrates can be recovered each year, and the recovery amount basically reaches the expected target.
The review experts stated that the implementation of the technology of the project is in line with the national industrial policy of clean production, energy conservation and emission reduction, and resource recycling, and is also in line with the development needs of titanium dioxide production enterprises. The industrialization of the project has been successful. It is recommended that it be promoted as soon as possible in the titanium dioxide industry.
